Hints for using weather balloons to complete scientific experiments at the edge of space – from Luther Richardson

Weather Balloon

GPS Tracker

Hydrogen gas – cheaper than Helium, but potentially very dangerous

Parachute – from hobby store for rockets

Payload – box, cover in cameras or place data-loggers in etc

Check weather conditions – other weather balloons that have been sent up

Permission to use airspace

Geographically an area with plenty of roads for tracking is preferable, but in the Northern Tablelands in Australia we may be able to use an plane and dirt bikes to retrieve the experiments.
